2011 Vanuatu

Molly has just turned 13 and with a pretty good value package trip to Vanuatu on sale we thought this might be a good opportunity for a week away on our own for the first time since Molly was born.

Brian’s Mum took up the gig to stay with Molly for the 8 nights that we would be away.

We landed in Port Vila 17th June and made our way to our accommodation at Breakers Resort. We had a great apartment which mostly was upstairs but with a full kitchen & outdoor area with it’s own plunge pool down below. Even though it was June it was still quite warm & humid & with the sea breeze it was a blessing to have an upstairs with a sea facing balcony.

We had a great time relaxing, meeting new people and taking in the local culture.

We took a day trip to Pele Island which was a great way to see island life on one of the 83 islands in the Vanuatu archipelago. We were picked up from our resort & tken by car & boat to the island where we were then taken out to a magnificent reef to snorkel on. On the way back a couple of us jumped out to snorkel over a giant clam reserve. We wre served a really good BBQ lunch & after a siesta & swim/snorkel had a wander through the village. A full & fun day.

Along with another couple we hired a driver for half a day to take us to the Cascades & the Tanna Coffee House.

On our last night at the resort they had a traditional dance & fire show provided by a local village with the usual kava drinking ceremony. Not my go!

Whilst we missed our little girl we did enjoy our time away & look forward to bringing Molly back to Vanuatu
