2006 Singapore

After a very hectic and draining 5 night “conference” in Singapore, the arrival, first of Belinda then Alan and Dianne Hee was some relief for Brian. Sleep was an optional extra during the conference.

Suffice to say as per usual when the four of us get together it was another five days full of laughter & the occasional drink.

Certainly one of the memorable moments was when talked into their first full body massage  Alan & Brian left the girls waiting for ages until they had finished.

What made it funnier was that Alan had gone to sleep during the massage only to be woken by the masseuse kneeling on his back riding him like a good thing!

Our food forays were also a lot of fun.

We ventured into a locals only “food court” where I would say that the only things on offer was boiled “innards” of whatever animals they found. A speedy retreat was made to a small non-descript restaurant where we had a supposedly pork dish which I wouldn’t mind betting was goat.

We also visited the famed Singapore Night Zoo which whilst terrific saw Brian “crack it”. After being a constant lather of sweat for 10 days in a constant 34 degrees celsius with 96% relative humidity 10:15pm was enough. Brian was headed for a Singapore cab, otherwise known as a fridge on wheels.

Thanks to a friendly cabbie we had a couple of nights at the Singapore East Coast Seafood Centre.

The highlight had to be the night when by the time the staff found a corkscrew for Belinda & Di’s wine Alan & Brian had already polished off 2 or 3 jugs of beer. Around the end of the meal the two large tables next to us broke into a rendition of Happy Birthday for Nana who was turning 80.

Naturally we joined in the singing and were quickly invited over for cake. Unfortunately it was our last night in Singapore as quite a number of the family wanted to take us around Singapore & show us the sights.

Suffice to say, a good night capped of a very enjoyable five days.
