This trip would be a bit different to our previous trips. Whereas we went to Matt & Sam’s wedding in Canada we just happened to be planning on going to the USA at that time so it was opportune to make a bit of a diversion to attend their wedding.
This trip was specifically to attend Greg & Joanna’s wedding at the Shangri La resort on the Coral Coast of Fiji.
Of the family & friends that were invited and were able to go there was a good little crowd to make a nice intimate beach wedding.
We were all there a few days before and after the ceremony just chilling & enjoying the resort.
As you would hope for a wedding in a tropical location, the weather turned it on for a sunny if not hot & humid day for the ceremony which fortunately was later in the afternoon.
After the wedding we took the opportunity to go do a village tour and jet boat ride on the Sigatoka River. We had been to Sigatoka nearly 28 years before, on our honeymoon. To say it had changed was an understatement but unfortunately for the worse.
Back in 1983 Sigatoka was a bustling shopping town full of duty free stores amongst other shops. However the decline of duties on electronic equipment and many other goods has seen a corresponding decline in the standard of Sigatoka town centre itself.
The jet boat ride was tons of fun & we had a great time at the village, particularly pleasing was the happy village kids.
